Florida Gators gear at

Last week we were 6-1 in our SEC baseball series predictions, missing only the Arkansas-Missouri matchup. Week three in the SEC provides some intriguing matchups that are even more difficult to pick. Here are our picks for week 3.

Texas A&M at LSU Thurs.-Sat. The Aggies are in a rebuilding year while LSU is LSU. Freshman Braden Shewmake is batting near .400 for A&M and is a solid building block for the future. LSU excels in fielding and on-base percentage leading the league in both. LSU wins 2-1.
Mississippi State at Ole Miss Thurs.-Sat. Two rivals square off in Oxford. After a strong league start the Rebs had a tough week 2 going just 1-4. MSU is a firey team with 9 of 15 wins comeback victories. Rebs should prevail in home series. Ole Miss wins 2-1.
Georgia at Tennessee Fri.-Sat. Two struggling teams hope to pick up a series victory. UT has the solid hitting but poor pitching. Georgia struggles in both pitching and hitting. Tennessee 2-1 win.
Vanderbilt at Kentucky Fri.-Sat. Kentucky is on a roll to start SEC play while Vandy is starting to pick things up- including SEC POTW Jeren Kendall's bat. Wildcats should prevail with home advantage. Kentucky 2-1 win.
South Carolina at Auburn Fri.-Sat. This one should be a dandy matchup. Traditional SEC power USC versus new tough kid on the block Auburn. Interesting stat: the Tigers have the least home runs in the SEC (8) but their pitchers have allowed the least home runs (8) Auburn wins 2-1
Arkansas at Alabama Fri.-Sat. Alabama is another struggling club early on while Arkansas is off to a red-hot start. At home the Tide should be able to eek out at least one win over the Razors. Arkansas wins 2-1.
Florida at Missouri Fri.-Sat. Mizzou pulled off a series sweep at Alabama to open league play but lost a 2-1 series to Arkansas the next week. Now they get Florida at home. Florida wins 2-1
